Maiden's Cup Results: Ocean Breeze Takes Glory at Champ de Mars

20-1 outsider Ocean Breeze delivers stunning victory in Saturday's feature race, shocking punters and bookmakers.

In one of the biggest upsets of the season, 20-1 longshot Ocean Breeze stormed to victory in Saturday's Maiden's Cup at Champ de Mars, leaving punters and bookmakers stunned.

The three-year-old filly, trained by upcoming conditioner Anish Domun, had shown little in her previous three starts but found another gear when it mattered most. Under a perfectly judged ride by apprentice jockey Navi Crossley, Ocean Breeze stayed wide throughout before unleashing a devastating late run to win by a length and a half.

"I always believed in this filly," said trainer Domun. "She's been working well at home, and I told the connections she was ready for a big run. The longer distance really suited her."

The victory was worth Rs 450,000 to connections and provided a first winner for 19-year-old jockey Crossley, who was making only his eighth ride at Champ de Mars.
